1. Fresh Fruit
Fresh fruit is one of the easiest breakfasts you can grab on your way out the door! My favorites are bananas, apples, oranges, clementines, grapes, and berries. Throw them in a Ziploc or container and you’re good to go. You can also pair it with a squeezable peanut butter pouch for some extra protein and nutrition.
2. Freeze-Dried Fruit
If you’re worried that fresh fruit is going to go bad, you can get freeze-dried fruit instead! Just make sure to get some without added sugars. I love the variety at Trader Joe’s but your grocery store may have a good selection too. It’s lightweight, shelf-stable, and easy to toss into a backpack, lunch bag, or purse before heading out the door.
3. Applesauce Pouches
Applesauce pouches aren’t just for toddlers—they’re a quick, mess-free breakfast option for busy adults and older kids too! Since they don’t require a spoon, they’re especially handy for commuting or eating on the go. Again, make sure to get the unsweetened variety – like this one from Mott’s!
4. Veggies & Hummus Cups
I know this one seem more of a snack than a breakfast, but hear me out! You can put some pre-cut veggies like baby carrots, celery sticks, cucumber slices, or mini bell peppers in a Ziploc bag or container, and pack it with a ready-made hummus cup for dipping. It’s the perfect way to get in some vegetables first thing in the morning!
5. Greek Yogurt Cups
Greek yogurt cups are one of the easiest ways to fit in a high-protein breakfast without any cooking. Yogurt has so many health benefits like protein, calcium, and Vitamin D. You can choose from so many different flavors, but I usually like to get the plain single-serving Greek yogurt cups and then add some granola, berries, or sliced bananas on top for flavor.
6. Drinkable Yogurt
I was SO excited when I learned that drinkable yogurts existed! They’re the best thing ever when you’re in a hurry and don’t even have time to sit down. The Chobani Greek yogurt drinks are my personal favorite. It’s easy to sip in the car, at your desk, and kids can even drink this while they’re getting ready for school or on the way to the bus stop!
7. Cottage Cheese Cups
Cottage cheese has been all the rage lately, and for good reason! It’s packed with protein and calcium, and there are so many ways you can enjoy it. I usually like topping single-serve cottage cheese cups with some fruit for a quick breakfast. I also love making these baked cottage cheese egg bowls for a super filling make-ahead breakfast!
8. String Cheese & Crackers
String cheese paired with whole-grain crackers is a classic combo! I love eating this as a snack, but I think it’s also perfect as a grab & go breakfast. You can pair it with a piece of fruit, nuts, or trail mix to round out your breakfast.
9. Kefir Drinks
Kefir is a cultured dairy drink that’s loaded with probiotics and more protein than regular milk. Just like drinkable yogurt, it’s an excellent breakfast option for mornings when you’re eating on the go.
10. Protein Shakes
Readymade protein shakes are one of the most convenient breakfasts you can keep on hand for busy mornings. Brands like Fairlife, Premier Protein, and Core Power offer pre-made shakes that require zero prep and are packed with nutrients. For kids, I usually like the Kate Farms shakes – they’re organic, made with clean ingredients, allergy-friendly, and packed with vitamins, minerals, protein, and fiber!
11. Hard-Boiled Eggs
Hard boiled eggs are my absolute favorite when I want a savory, high-protein, no fuss breakfast! I usually top mine with salt & pepper and throw it in a container with some fruits, nuts, or crackers (like this hard boiled egg bento box). You can meal prep a batch of hard boiled eggs over the weekend to have them on hand for the whole week or if you’re in a rush/feeling lazy, you can also buy a pack of pre-cooked, peeled eggs at the grocery store. I do the latter all the time, so no judgment here!

12. Turkey or Beef Jerky
You’re going to think I’m crazy for suggesting this as a breakfast, but it actually works! Turkey or beef jerky has lots of protein, it’s shelf-stable, and you can throw it in your bag for convenience. You can also pair it with fruit, crackers, or a yogurt cup to make it a more substantial meal.
13. Protein Bars
Protein bars are a lifesaver on mornings when you don’t have time to prepare anything. They are easy to keep in your pantry, car, work bag, or gym bag so you always have a quick breakfast option available. I’ve been obsessed with these Think bars lately – they contain 20g of protein and no added sugars in each bar!
14. Breakfast Biscuits
Breakfast biscuits or bars are a great grab & go breakfast that you can eat on the go or throw in your bag. You can eat these biscuits plain or pair it with some yogurt or string cheese for extra protein. My personal favorites are the BelVita blueberry biscuits or the Nature’s Bakery breakfast bars!
15. Trail Mix
Trail mix is a sweet & salty breakfast that’s super convenient, delicious, and filling. If you have time, you can even make your own! Target has a really good variety of trail mixes, and Trader Joe’s carries individual-sized trail mix pouches that are extra convenient for on the go. Make sure to choose a trail mix with a good balance of nuts, seeds, and fruit, and watch out for varieties with lots of added candy or sugar.
16. Dry Cereal
Cereal is a kid favorite! You can skip the milk and just portion some dry cereal into a Ziploc bag for kids to eat on the go. A lot of cereals can contain added sugars, so make sure to find one with whole-grains, fiber, and less sugar.
17. Granola
Similar to dry cereal, you can portion granola into a small Ziploc bag or container to enjoy on the go! You can also sprinkle it over yogurt or pair it with milk for a quick breakfast. Look for granolas made with oats, nuts, and seeds, and check the nutrition label since some varieties can be high in added sugar.
18. Instant Oatmeal Cups
Instant oatmeal cups are an easy breakfast option that takes just minutes to make in the microwave. They’re convenient to keep at home, in the office, or in a dorm room for mornings when you need something warm and comforting. The Quaker maple brown sugar oatmeal holds a special place in my heart, but I also love the Kodiak oatmeal cups too!
19. Nut Butter Packets
Single-serve nut butter packets are a convenient way to add protein and healthy fats to your breakfast. I’ve seen peanut butter, almond butter, and cashew butter packs in many grocery stores. Sure you could eat them plain if you want, but they pair really well with some sliced apples, bananas, or some crackers.
20. Bagel with Cream Cheese
Ahh, the good ol’ bagel with cream cheese. This has ben my go-to portable breakfast lately. I’ve been getting the Thomas high protein bagels and topping it with some cream cheese or a smashed avocado – absolute yum!
21. Frozen Waffles or Pancakes
I love keeping a box of frozen waffles in my freezer for busy mornings when I need to heat up something fast for breakfast. The Kodiak power waffles have more protein compared to the classic Eggo waffles but really any variety will do. Heat them in the toaster or microwave for a few minutes, then add peanut butter, fruit, yogurt, or a drizzle of maple syrup to make them even more delicious!
22. Egg Muffins
This quick breakfast does require some meal prep, but I promise it’s way easier than you think! Make a batch of these 4-ingredient cottage cheese egg muffins on Sunday and then pop them in the fridge or freezer. In the morning, grab a couple of egg muffins and microwave them right before eating. It’s simple, high protein, and super filling!
23. Overnight Oats
Overnight oats are one of the easiest breakfasts to prepare ahead because all the work happens when you’re sleeping! Combine oats, milk, yogurt, and your favorite toppings in a jar or container the night before, then grab it from the refrigerator the next morning. There are so many different recipes out there, but here are some of my favorites!
24. Smoothies
Smoothies are a quick, healthy breakfast that can be made at home or purchased ready-to-drink from the grocery store. I definitely suggest making your own because it’s so easy and takes just a few minutes. Here’s 15 high protein smoothie recipes to get you inspired! To make life easier, you can prep smoothie freezer packs ahead of time or keep bottled smoothies on hand for super busy mornings.
25. Frozen Breakfast Sandwiches & Burritos
If you’re guilty of getting drive-thru Egg McMuffins every morning, this one is for you! Keep a couple of frozen breakfast sandwiches or burritos in your freezer that you can reheat & eat before school or work. My favorite is the Jimmy Dean’s turkey sausage sandwiches or the Red’s breakfast burritos.
