Why You’ll Love This Recipe

You know those days when you forgot to meal prep lunch on Sunday and now you’re scrambling to put lunch together before you have to head out the door in like 10 minutes? Yep, I know that feeling all too well!

Well don’t worry because today I’m sharing these super easy 4-ingredient ham & cheese pinwheels that you can throw together in 10 minutes…or less!

🌯 These ham & cheese pinwheels are:

  • Made with just 4 ingredients
  • High protein
  • No-cook
  • Ready in 10 minutes
  • Perfect for meal prep

They’re also great for game day parties, holiday appetizers, and school lunchboxes!

They take 10 minutes to make, but you can also meal prep them the night before and stick them in the fridge for the next day. You can even use the leftover tortillas to make these 5-ingredient spinach turkey cream cheese roll ups!

Ingredients & Substitutions

  • Tortillas: I used the Ezekiel tortillas from Trader Joe’s which have more protein + fiber and less sodium compared to flour tortillas. You can use any 8-inch tortillas – flour, whole wheat, multigrain, low carb, spinach, etc.

  • Chive & onion cream cheese: Acts as a glue to hold the ingredients together. It’s also going to help the cheese stick a bit better too! You can use plain cream cheese or low-fat cream cheese if you prefer. If you want a non-dairy alternative, you can try a cottage cheese spread or hummus but of course that will change the flavor 🙂

  • Deli ham: Make sure to get low-sodium when you can! If you don’t like ham, feel free to substitute with turkey or chicken breast slices.

  • Shredded cheddar cheese: Some of the shredded cheese may spill while you’re slicing the tortilla, but I used it for convenience. You can also use cheese slices instead if you want something cleaner. You can also experiment with different types of cheeses like pepper jack or provolone.

📌 OPTIONAL INGREDIENTS: Add veggies like spinach, kale, or chopped bell peppers.

Equipment You’ll Need

One of the great things about this recipe is that you don’t need any fancy equipment to make these roll ups! Just a few basic tools that you probably already have on hand.

  • Cutting board or a flat surface to arrange the roll ups
  • Knife to spread the cream cheese and cut the pinwheels

That’s seriously it. I told you this recipe was super easy!

Storage Instructions

  • Make Ahead: Store pinwheels in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. They’re best if eaten within 24 hours for peak freshness. Pack in your lunchbox with an ice pack.

  • Fridge: Store in airtight container for up to 3 days.

  • Freezer: Tortillas and cream cheese do not thaw well and may become soggy.

4-Ingredient Ham & Cheese Pinwheels

These super easy ham & cheese pinwheels are a lunchbox classic made with just 4 ingredients and ready in 10 minutes without any cooking required! Perfect for school lunchboxes, work lunches, or even as a party appetizer.
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 0 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes
Course Lunch
Servings 3 wraps

Ingredients

  • 3 tortillas (8-inch)
  • 6 tbsp chive & onion cream cheese
  • 6 slices deli ham
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  • Lay the tortillas flat on a clean surface or cutting board.
  • Spread 2 tbsp of chive & onion cream cheese evenly over each tortilla, leaving about 1 inch clear from the edges.
  • Layer 2 slices of deli ham over the cream cheese on each tortilla. They should cover the width of the tortilla and overlap at the center.
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese evenly across the tortillas.
  • Starting at the bottom edge, roll the tortilla upwards towards the top edge. Make sure to roll it up tightly and tuck in the fillings as you go.
  • Slice into 5 bite-sized pinwheels. Cut in the center first, then cut on the sides.
  • Serve and enjoy! You can also put the pinwheels in a lunchbox and stick it in the fridge for lunch the next day.

Notes

  • Use fresh tortillas – I recommend using tortillas that are fresh and stored at room temperature. I made the mistake of refrigerating my open bag of tortillas and they dried out, became brittle, and did not roll up well.

  • Having a hard time cutting the pinwheels? Wrap the rolled-up tortilla in plastic wrap, then refrigerate for 20 minutes before slicing into pieces. This will make them easier to cut.

  • Make it for meal prep! These roll-ups are great for meal prep! Make them the night before and store it inside an air-tight lunchbox or bento box for the next day
